A whack of fish on Sunday afternoon and again this morning. Fast and furious with springs and ho's!!

The guy I am fishing is friends with a "Canuck" player who has been texting us from Telegraph and they are slayin' them up there as well.

A quick hour this morning for us with a bunch of springs and coho to the boat in 1.5 hours.

We are havin' fun and getting a bit cocky with the battles of "cut plug" vs "chovies and flashers".

Great report Pippen.

Thanks for the info.

Yes it is Willie....there has been plenty of "trash texting" happening between Kyuquot and Telegraph.

Tried getting out to the reef this morning but got turned around and opted to fish inside. Had a bunch of ho's on this morning but couldn't find a spring in the inside waters.

Looks like it could be a breezy couple of days....raining sideways this morning and blowing like crazy and doesn't appear as though it will be letting up soon.

Poppa....the springs aren't too bad; all have been in the low 20's up to low 30's. Thus far the chovie and flasher is winnning out on coho's....and a very slight edge on the springs when we can get outside. Mind you I think you can put almost anything down out there and do well. I always have to chuckle when you load up the 'box' with all sorts of gear and thus far all I have needed is 1 flasher and 1 teaser head; my fave 'gold/chrome' flasher with a purple/black/chrome head.

Good to hear the fishing has been well in both areas! Looks like this years salmon run should be continue to produce.

Let's Go Canucks!

Pippen,

If you can't get off shore, I surely would be trying Spring Island or behind Lookout Island for some springs! Both of those places have been known produce some nice sized fish. :D

That's exactly where we were this morning and with the wind blowing from the south/southeast there wasn't mmuch room to hide. We fished along the 'north' side of Spring Island this morning....we turned around to come in not too much further out past Lookout and it is getting pounded. We did manage to scare a few springs off the south/east side of Spring Island on Sunday.

We're crossing our fingers for a break in the wind early tomorrow and make another 5:30 am departure. We may just try and push outside the surfline and battle it out tomorrow regardless......well "regardless" within' reason. ;)

still hoppin, just got back from two days of fishing with a easy limits of chinook, up to 37,31,30 and the rest mid to high twenties, Dad got his 100lb hali and now I'm aka spear chucker. all in all great trip some of the best fishing, we headed in yesterday at 8:30 am started hoping after hitting our posetion limit of springs, could have jerked some bottom fish but wanted to get home for dinner with the kiddies.

Awesome fish!!!!!

Thanks for sharin' the pics!! If you don't mind my askin'....where abouts were you guys focussing?

we were fishing all over, got the 30 at spring island it was windy so we fished in there we were getting alot of coho and cod fish along with small springs so we wanted to get out of there, thought it was calming so decided to head to the reef got our limit of springs in about 45 minutes all close to thirty with the 37 in there. next day went out to the reef nothing, went out to highway and nothing, then came back to the reef and got one on e the way and got the hali on the slack, next day we fished rugged point moved to the can buoy out to grassy island where we got our last two a smaller one and the 31 which was hooked on the gill plate and was jumping two feet out of the water and taking power runs the hook ripped through in the net so almost lost that one. that place is awesome can't wait to go back

Great pics. Damn that makes me jealous. All my old haunts Spring Island (love that spot), the Reef and Highway.

The Reef can be a great spot. My two largest springs from Kyuquot have came from bouncing bottom at the reef.

Go get um guys.

Can anyone tell me what landmark or bigger island is nearby Spring Island and near Lookout Island? I'm heading up there for the second time, thursday at noon. I can't find either of those islands on my chart.. Thanks in advance!

Lookout and Spring Island are part of the Mission Group of islands. Look west of Union Island on your chart for the Mission Group and Spring and Lookout are the westernmost islands.
