Kitty Coleman Reports 2012

A couple of fish for us today but the wind kicked up and we got off the water.
Never even go close to where we mostly fish but it goes to show you what can happen when you have your lines down. One was small and we let that one go, the other was a tad over 20#.

Where are the rest of you? I believe there are five of us out here right now. It's hard to tell I can only count one boat at a time between the waves. Nothing over 4-5ft but it is dropping. I might need ice if I catch something. So if you are comming out call me as I might need ice at some point.

20 or 30 boats out there today.
Only saw one or two nets out at the low slack.
Me... I got zero.....
Oh well .. just have to try Monday.

We enjoyed our stay at Kitty Coleman Campground, I managed to get out three times with, for me, a very pleasant result. Two nice red springs; one about 20lbs and the other about 12lbs. The wide launch site as forewarned was a tribute to my endurance (at least on the retrieval), it has been a while since I had to crank the boat up onto the rear keel roller, and I am not as young as I think I are anymore  The smaller ramp is much better but needs quite a bit of water to be usable. The people there were very friendly, and I got some excellent advice from quite a few. In particular about the depth to fish, and what to use. 20ft off bottom, and a blue meanie. I will definitely be there again.

We were out today from about 10:00 till 4:00. Bonked a 10 and a 14 and released one undersize and lost a couple more. Hooked a particularly large Pacific Cod and decided to keep it and try it for dinner. Filleted, skinned, dredged in seasoned flour and fried in butter. It was delicious and I will be keeping any larger ones in the future.

Picked up one about 12 pds on the flood this evening tossed back three undersized, had a couple good pop offs sure was a lot slower than yesterday. They must have all moved up to CR. Time to move on. Nice to be out there though!

nada!!
fished 4-8 nothing but dogfish for me. kitty was quiet for boats, saw several boats at the bates area and more boats fishing out towards the shipping lanes(500 ft) area. radio was quiet..

A few fish were taken on Saturday but not by my boat.
I would have to say that fishing is spotty.
Luck of the draw sometimes.

Fished 1-5 .
2 springs. Caught on apex green glo 150 ft.
Saw others netting fish. Between bates hump and kitty hump
Lots of jap weed around.

Was out Sunday night from 5:30 - 9:00. Fishing was ok, saw a few boats brining in small fish. Also saw 2 guys reel in a HUGE halibut right on the hump and then try to net it.

That didn't work out so well for them.

good fishing at the hump for me 3-8. took out a newby and he caught his first spring! i wonder if the guys who lost the hali were buzz bommbing?
i didnt see any other action.

Yup I caught one but it was slow fishing that's for sure.
Nice weather but a little on the hot side as I think I went through a gallon of water.

Went out tonight at 6:00 and got blown off in my little boat after about an hour. Algae was thick, could barely see my cannonball 12" in the water. Only thing I caught or saw caught was someone else's flasher/hoochie that they broke off on their own prop about 80 yards away.

Thanks to the guy in the 15' tinny that let me borrow your duct tape when I broke off one of my rusty bunks while loading. Anyone in CR/Comox want to buy an ugly looking 80's galvanized 14' trailer for cheap?
