Sockeye in a river will rarely bite anything.
Flossers hurl out a bouncing betty with a 15-20' leader and as the line drifts downstream, fish swimming upstream will end up with the line in their yap and after it 'flosses' their teeth they usually end up with a hook in the cheek. Always the opposite cheek to the shore being fished.
