Igloo marine cooler at Costco

These seem to be seasonal. Get 'em now as they won't be there when you really need it in July/August. They'll be selling Christmas stuff then. $89.00 seems like a good bargain.

Yup, great deal but make sure you use a belt around the middle hatch to keep it closed if you ever go fishing to Ucluelet. The darn otters know how to open that hatch and will steal your catch!!! (don't ask me how I know it :([}:)])

Howdy,

I'd stay away from any cooler with plastic-hinges.
They don't last.

I found a used big-Igloo with metal hinge pins.
Not sure if they still make em'.

You can replace the hinges with the metal pin hinges for about $9 at West Marine.

Anyone see the Yeti Coolers at the boat show? Those are pretty sweet. Not going to pick one of those up for $89 but they are well built!!

The Yetis are nice, but for that price they should at least come with rod holders and oar locks for calm days at the lake.

I have a large Igloo cooler with plastic hinges from Costco for over 6 years now.. just last year one plastic hinge did break, not from it wearing out, I dropped the cooler off my trucks tail gate.. I went on e-bay you can by a set for very cheep!!

metal ones, very cheep replacment like some one else post here..

Ebay is a good bet but I am pretty sure you can et them locally at any place that sells igloo... Haven't seen accessories at Costco, but I've seen them at Nikka in around the same price as that ebay auction. Just depends how fast you need them.

The hinges on the one I bought last year lasted about a week, but it did get beat around a little.
I just replaced them with some heavy 2" nylon strapping from busted ratchet strap. Did the same thing with the one I picked up at Costco the other day, beore it had a chance to break.
Just melted some holes for the screws with a hot nail so the nylon wouldn't fray.
Seems to work OK, the lid still closes properly and they should last forever.

igloo in full glory,

Hey MK, that is why they call them "fish coffins"...... I am hopefully going to get out to Barkley next weekend for some hali fishing. Now that I have seen your post, I plan on spending a little time at 7 mile for some salmon as well! U the man! SS

I got one last year, it's had a lot of use. I did find both the front latches and the rear one's broke off pretty quick. I marched on down to Ocean Pacific and got some some heavy duty plastic replacements for the rear and a nice unit that twist locks on the front so the fish don't "bounce out" on some of those bumpy rides back home. Been working great every since.
