Usually dont think of hunting while weather is nice and fishing awesome, but after 24 years of entering I finally got a VI Elk draw. September is gonna drag for me.
Any one else have a ridiculous amount of time entering a draw without being drawn? I think the system is highly flawed. A guy I work with has been drawn in the spot I entered 3 times in the last 6????

No different than playing lotto 649 or any other lottery. It is a game of chance, nothing more. BC had the best GOS in NA, other than Dall sheep, Grizz, Buff and Rosies. Yea some guys have all the luck, but that's all it is, luck. Sure, it can be tweeked a bit, but no other system will work here in BC.

Took me 26 years to get my Rosie draw and 7 hours to shoot a bull.

What area is your draw???

Cheers

Saskatchewan seems to have a good system. I dont fully understand it yet but from what i understand, from year one upon entering a draw every unsuccesful year you jump into different pools until year four when you are near guaranteed your animal. seems like a good system from the people i talk to there.
Any how a bull near gold river will meet his demise with a brand new .300 win mag !!!!!!!!!! bought to celebrate this occassion

In Alberta, our draws work on a priority system. Each year that you apply for a draw unsuccessfully, you increase in priority. When you are successfully drawn, you go back to a zero priority for that species. The priority level you need to get drawn depends on species, area you want to hunt, and whether you want to hunt an early or late season. For example, in the areas I hunt, I prefer a late draw for moose (Nov. 1-30) and usually get my draw as priority 3. Whereas people that want the early draw (Late Sept. to Oct. 31) will need to be a priority 7,8,9 before getting drawn because there are so many applicants. This is how it works for all draws. If you want to apply for less popular areas and less popular times of years, you can be successfully drawn fairly often. For the record, I've never been unsuccessful on a late moose draw and I get drawn twice as often as guys that want early draws.
