Hot Spot Flashers

I just bought a new Hot Spot flasher. When I got home I noticed that rather than having high quality Sampo ball bearing swivels on both ends; the lure end now has a cheap barrel swivel. I checked all my other Hot Spots and they have the Sampo’s ball bearing swivels on both ends. It looks like Hot Spot has decided to reduce their quality which is unfortunate as I have always preferred them over the Gibbs and O’Ki Big Shoter flashers for this very reason.

Anyone know what is going on with this? I would be willing to pay a little more for them if they would keep using the Sampo’s ball bearing swivels on both ends.

They have alway had both, if you bought it at TroTac it will have both Sampo's. It really depends on what store as they can order both... it is cheaper of course with the one you bought..

Thanks Hurston, that explains it. I have about 15 Hot Spots with the Sampo's. I will just have to pay attention when buying them. Do Gibbs and O’Ki make both also? All of them I have do not have duel Sampo's.

i am not sure about Gibbs i do not use them at all, banana Trev will know about O'KI but I am sure they do the same as Hot Spot. Cheers

I have a gibb's red and gold flasher with the good swivels on both ends so I assume they have both as well.

You know Rockfish you can very easily change the swivels out yourself if you like one in particular but it has the cheap swivels on. I have upgraded a few of mine that way.

I thought about that but it did not look that easy as the ring through the flasher and swivel is welded stainless. Do you cut it off and replace it with a big split ring and solder it up or do you cut off the swivel and add a splint ring to the stainless flasher ring. It also occurs to be that the big Sampo's are very expensive if you don't get a manufactures bulk discount and are only buying a few at a time.
