Horse slaughter house.... Another reason hunting is ETHICAL

I will show this to anyone that thinks my hunting is "unethical" OR inhumane..

I am sure this is similar to what happens in a beef slaughter house too.
Yep that video is messed up. I'm not a hunter (only of fish) but this is what I say to people who think hunting is inhumane. "Do you ever see how animals are killed in the wild by other animals?. A human kills much more humanely"

How many times do your hit your fish over the head? Bet it still kicks a bit a while later. How about your cod or hali...Travel the world and see what others eat. Horse...Crap that's nothing

Obviously not a pretty picture and not a job I would like doing. Do not know if this can be prevented but if horses are considered meat it is going to happen. 34yrs ago I lived in Quebec and horse meat was available then. I tried eating it once and did not like it. I do not see the point but know that they will not stop it. If I had to work in a slaughterhouse I am sure that I would be sickened by it but if we eat meat someone has to kill it.

Made the BIG mistake of following my 4H steer through the slaughter house, that was in 1968. Modern methods have improved somewhat, but they can still make it more humane.

I hear ya Labman. 9 years if 4H for me. I watched several of mine get cut up at the butchers. Oh well, you know what they say in 4H: " Once the head's off, they lose their personality."

On a side note, though, anyone who thinks hunting is cruel needs to take close look where their beef comes form. More people need to see the feedlot industry, especially the one in Cowlinga in California.

So what do you do if the horse or cow or whatever doesn't pack it in after the first shot? Start CPR?

Love being at the top of the food chain!

I guess I should have been more clear. I don't have anything against the method if done correctly. But 11 times is messed up, there is no need for that under any circumstances.

Wait 'til you see what they do in a slaughter plant that's preparing "kosher" meat. All kinds of edible "farm" animals and birds such as Chicken,Turkey, Ducks, geese etc., "bled out" first. This means opening them up to let the heart pump all the blood out while they are alive. Usually they are just strung up on a meat-hook while this happens (on a production line).

I've seen videos of beef plants also , where they slice the hooves off first to let them bleed out before they kill them...if they're not dead already from that.
The machine /tool they use for this is sort of like a highpowered "impact' clipper.
It has enough power to just chop through bone easily.
They,ve been using these for years.

They also trim the beaks on chickens in the commercial lots to prevent them from
pecking any other chicken.

It's done on this rig that heats up and just melts through the beak.
