I am just wondering what colour do I use siwash hooks for plugs , hootchy and spoons.

Siwash Hooks are black or red or chrome or dark navy.

I would like to your experienced feedback about the colour hooks.

Thanks

Color doesn't matter(aside from sockeye) as much as the strength of the hook.
I have been using the black mustad open eye hooks lately.
They are working well, even the seals don't straighten them out.

Check out Derby's new ones; they are sort of a gun metal colour!! They are outstanding......I have many a knick in my fingers/hands as a testament to their sharpness!!! :o :p

And....does anybody ever sharpen hooks any more? I tend to chuck them out after a few days of fishing. I understand you should not sharpen the new hook in production today.

I use mostly Mustad nickle open eye siwash hooks and sharpen them not only when new but throughout the day I will tune up the edge.

h.e.h.

I like VMC hooks best, but they do need sharpening. Carry a couple of stones on the boat and sharpen them up when I remember (of having pin pops that didn't stick).

Rarely bend one. Never rust. Dull grey colour. Have tried pretty much all of them, some other brands on spoons are rusting before they come out of the box.

Big Mustad 95170 for plugs. Trying Eagle Claw 211ss for newly tied hootchies and some spoons. Softer ring. Both need sharpening before using.

maruto,, japanese commies cant be wrong,, they work!!

The Pacific net and twine high Carbon siwash...super sharp out of the box sizes 3/0 to 8/0 ..we have a new 3/0 coming in the spring that will preform well on the 3.0 & 3.5 size spoons :)
