hooks for anchovy setup

I like to match the hook to the bait size as well as i always use a single treble. Small anchovies i use #2 Lazer sharps 3X, med Anchovy - # 1, med herring - 1/0 and large herring 1/0 with a 4/0 single. I also switch to spoons if they are short biting

Treble hooks likely do more damage to small fish (in my and your opinion) but data is needed to prove that.

Interstingly some past research I have seen has apparently indicated that released fish (small guys) using both barbless single and treble hooks showed no significant difference in damage. Again,I find that hard to believe but its possible its true. I think it was DFO doing the research so another reason I find it hard to grasp ;)
Hey, Peahead... Just notice you were wondering about the data on "barbed ver barbless" I would be glad to sent it to you! I have accumulated quite of bit on that subject! And I do mean quite a bit! :D

was out on the weekend and was using two trebles but got one stuck in my finger releasing a undersize ling so i switched to treble/ single found the action less floppy /easier to tune so i'll try it the next fewtrips we got 5 springs the best action was on a white/glow cuttlefish hoochie and green/white -gloww spoons /fishing in general seemed slow

1 single trebele seems to be best, fishing partner always uses 1 and I always used 2 tandem trebles. so far this year 7 in the boat in 4 trips Me only 1 same gear, switching back to 1 single. He has always used 1 and usually out fishes me . I find the bait has a nicer roll with 1 also.

i had lots of short bitters on the single trebble but wasn't sure of the knots to use to tie a trebble in front of an octopus. for cut plug i use two singles snelled but will this work around the thick shank of the trebble?

After mucking around with stingers for a couple years I gave up on the idea and went to a single #1 Owner treble. Actually started catching more fish!
You can fish that hook a dozen times without it dulling or rusting up on you, and unlike other hooks out there, the Owners are almost impossible to bend.

I use a single #2 Gami treble and have had good success.....just like on the package...lol I had a bit of a short bite thing happening last summer and it was suggested on here to speed up a tad and things were good again. :)

owner and maruto,, my favourites, marutos chisel point barbless with small ridges instead of barbs, passes the sweater test...

Owner seems to be popular. Have never tried them. Where can you pick these up around southern Vancouver island?

That's what I do. I snell the trebble and octi together. Works well for me.

Egg loop works, even on the big shank, so does lashing on a loop of doubled line on a fly vice Bucktail fly style (makes changing trailer hook easier).
