Help: Salty salmon

I'd poach it in a big pot of boiling water, testing frequently till it was edible.
The other side of that coin is not enough salt and before the couple could get it bagged it was molding.

Thanks for info guys. I'll copy thread and give to friend and he can try ideas. I could not get rid of enough salt to be good on piece he gave me. But think just chalk it up to mistake and chuck out, is best solution idea!!

I've made that mistake before and saved it for Alfredo pasta sauce few chunks in there and it breaks up and dissolves pretty tasty .

An old timer friend buys salted fish , and puts the salted fish in milk to pull the salt out. Then rinses it and cooks it, sounds kinda gross but he's being doing it for a long time, old school little tricks worth a try .

mix a little with cream cheese...blend and add a little more if you dare...spread on crackers topped with jalapeño jelly.
You could also put some in a bag & add flavored liquor i.e. Grand marnier.

what sammy said. maybe soak in cold water in the fridge for awhile before doing this. in the cold water, maybe add some sugar to try to offset the saltiness also. I bet you'd be suprised. crackers with a mix of the smoked salmon and cream cheese, with the halipeno (or red chilli) jelly spread on top is awesome...

I had the same problem with some salmon that I salted for smoking and put it in the oven as is .. the looks on my guests faces was wild. I soaked it in cold water overnight rinsed then made fish stew and chowder without using any salt of course and it was great. good luck

I would put some in a chowder, and don't salt it. This is good chowder weather, just had some today.

I think this could be a good idea at using some of it up. It's a real shame to throw out any food if there is a solution to the problem. I think it's worth a shot :).
