Haven't Tied a Cut Plug Leader For Years But Now..

Heading north in a few weeks it's a cut plug fishery and it's not like I've never tied one just haven't done so in years and years.

Been doing Anchovy Teaser Head rigs and so have forgotten how far apart to put the hooks assuming we'll be using large Herring.

3.5" or 4"?

And how about whole Herring rigs</u> tie the slider with 20# Dacron?

TIA

The spacing between the hooks depends on where you insert your hooks. I prefer both hooks on one side of the bait for fresh herring which means hook spacing around 2 & 1/2 in apart (from the eye of the bottom hook to the bend of the top hook), however, this set up requires very firm bait and slow speed mooching/trolling or the top hook pulls out. For frozen well brined bait I place my top hook up through the cut up through the gut cavity out on the top, the back hook near the tail - hook spacing around 3&1/2 to 4 inches (from eye of bottom hook to bend of top hook). Use a snell knot and you can't go wrong with 25 lb Maxima Ultra Green as leader line.
