Halibut tactics?

Hey guys,

My friends and I are fishing out of Bamfield in the middle of June. I had some success with halibut about 7 miles out last year dragging the cannon balls on the bottom. I was also able to hook a few small springs. What other tactic can i employ to target halibut? I have a short jigging rod that I have not used yet. What tackle do you suggest?

trolling does work the best i thinks for the chickens,, after you find one, mark the spot, drop an anchor or do a real slow back troll if you can with bigger bait and use a spreader bar. you may find a bigger fish
