1] We need to accept the idea with an absolute open mind that we will without judgment, join all other sectors and individuals who have a like mind, and who wish to help develop substantial change in the way Canada's common property is being managed.

2] We must commit and rise to the occasion by finding the individuals from each and every sector and or party who share a common interest in developing substantial change in the way Canada's common property is being managed.

3] We must develop respect and understanding, as well as help create, develop and maintain opportunities for the individuals from each and every sector and or party who share a common interest in developing substantial change in the way Canada's common property is being managed.

4] We must commit and follow through with what we as a group of sectors decide are important issues to follow through protest - we must not stop once we start...

If you or anyone else that you know can see the vision and the focus that the words "United We Stand" can do to help form & create a new, and fresh direction toward an end result of positive, substantial change - then you are a person who will shine and help to develop a new understanding and commitment that is necessary in order to help direct our employees who work for the corporation that we all own, namely DFO.

DFO is a corporation that the people of Canada hold - an organization who is supposed to work in the best interest of all Canadians.

Today is a changing tide, today we as a group of all sectors working as one will work toward changing the bureaucracy that is forcing the death of our Canadian Common Property - namely our fisheries beholden and managed, directed and dictated by a Canadian corporation that has no interest other than to complete a slighted plan of strategy that has in the past created purposeful animosity between all sectors in order to hold control over them by developing a conformed state of confusion[a smoke screen].

If we do not commit now - we never will...doing nothing is worse than doing something, where doing nothing shares that you agree. Doing something is a tell tale that you disagree with the current coarse...for without your action the governing body will continue with the status quote.

Only by death, will your silence legally be freed or at least not until you speak that of your mind and take action directed to change!

Final step - assemble, plan, discuss, protest...the best plans are always developed in private.;)

Holy **** Abraham is that you!?

I officially declare this to be the "Gettysburg Address" of the Pacific Halibut Allocation Fight

Seriously thou, nice piece of writing Rob.

Well the boats I know don't wait until the end, they just get it done early and do the additional in the end, as they are capable of dealing with mother nature. It certainly is not a bidding war by any stretch. Do I blame them? No, its tough to even make a buck.

Either way the 88% is typicaly taken by the longline boys and our 12 percent guess is decided upon and closed prematurely even after a 1 per angler dailey limit. Not an easy game for either group with the low prices obtained this season.

Tailspin;

you lost me a bit here. What do you mean by "the additional"? Also talking with processors these are some of the highest prices seen in the history of the halibut fishery.

You want change?

Organize!

History recalls every time the **** hits the fan on an issue impacting the resource or concerning allocation, we all get up on the soap box one-by-one and pound our chest while shaking our fists then... fade away.

Same **** every time.

When I started the WSA in an effort to rid our coastline of the scourge we know as salmon-farming, I was both amazed and enthralled at the hundreds - yes hundreds - of supportive emails I received encouraging me to stay the course. Then, out of nowhere, I was accused by the RCMP of making 'Bomb-threats' against offices of the DFO. Regardless that the allegations were bogus and the investigation stopped, that's all it took for 'hundreds' to jump-ship on the WSA and the cause I (we) stood for. It was a brilliant move by whoever orchestrated it. The same end could have been achieved by accusing me of being a pedophile, regardless if I was guilty or not.

My point here is this: If we do not organize with the firm conviction that we will stand-together through thick & thin, the movement will certainly fade to oblivion. Government knows this.

Whether it's the SFAB, or a new initiative headed-up by Rob or any of the other good people on this forum, if you believe in it, if you support it - STAND BY IT TILL THE END!

Fish69

Additional...I meant the leftover quota not caught due to the late season and bad weather. Or left in the water for TAC distribution next season to perhaps keep us sportys fishing for more than 1 or keeping a stable season.

Yes prices are high now, but were not so for the majority of the season due to left over frozen supply from last year.

I know much more than I am willing to divolge on a public forum and am good friends with a major player with a few boats that have been in the game for many years. Yes we get into some good debates...he hates sporties, lol
