Thanks for the link, Eric1. Interesting - after looking at the data on Table 5 on page 11 in the 2015 Canadian Recreational Fishery Halibut Catch Report (see: http://www.iphc.int/meetings/2016am/bb/13_02_Area2B_2015SportHalibutCatchReport_IPHC.pdf) - the average sizes of the halibut range from 10-30lbs - dependent upon area.

The more inside waters with smaller halibut - generally (areas 23/123, 9, 8, and 1 average under 12 lbs; where areas 20, 25/125, 19, 10, 11 and 26/126 all average over 20lbs). Makes me wonder about things like recruitment and metapopulation dynamics - and whether or not managing by such large oceanic areas is working.
