i dont know how i messed this reply <img src=icon_smile_dead.gif border=0 align=middle> what depth were you at and what were you using?!

To fish or not to fish,
What a stupid question!
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish, and he will sit on a boat drinking beer for a life time :D

Prawning was pretty good off Tent yesterday, 280 feet and the crabbing was okay in the Chemainus estuary.. trolled around Tent for awhile , no action.. but twas a great day to be on the water

Out today in Cowichan Bay, prawns off of Genoa Bay at 210 ft, crabs were in quite shallow at 40 -45 ft, all small and female over 100 ft.
Trolled deep on the ebb tide from Burial Isl. to Separation Pt. had 3 hits , one to the boat and released(about 7 lbs) one good hit at Separation and lost it to a seal.
Gold Hot Spot flasher , fished bait(green glow krippled anchovy small size anchovy- 4 in.) and hootchies ,smaller fish were on the bait and the lost fair size one was on tiger striped hootchie, all fished between 85 - 135 ft.
Water flat as **** on a plate , beautiful day !

Really? The family and I went out for prawns/crabs (and beach) on sunday. I found my prawn traps at 280' caught only 75 or so but they were really large so I figured shallower would have been better.
But the crab trap was at 130' and we caught 4 large males, no females. Saw a few trolling along Tent but no idea success rate.
How're the seals along Tent anyway?

Iv was out off tent for about an hour, and only saw one seal and it was on the reef

Never wen to Tent Isl. Eric, stayed in the Cowichan Bay; Bold Bluff area, lots of seals off of Bold Bluff and into Burgoyne Bay.
Went out again today and set the prawn traps again this time off of Cherry Point in about 250 ft of water , got some really good sized prawns but also a lot with egg bundles which we very carefully put back in , ended up with about 30 really nice ones and a pile of nice crabs off Boatswains Bank and the light there in about 85 ft of water.
Not a bite today anywhere.

Out this morning early and went off of the wall on Galiano on the ebbing tide , took one nice spring(14lbs) deep at 125 ft on an Abe and Al flasher and purple haze squirt(44 in leader)got he fish in the boat about 20 ft ahead of the seal who was definitely interested in a free meal.
Got out the sling shot and marbles and whacked him one on the noggin at about 30 ft range(would like to say it was skill but I think it was a skip hit).

Good one there Eric, was just down by the old Government dock on the west side of Galiano there, quite a few seals in that area.
Going to try outside next Monday if the weather permits , and go down to Lone tree point and fish the 20 fathom line up to the pass, will try herring minnows and shorten up the leaders a bit .

Well I headed out yesterday for a trip around Prevost Island. Had a few good lings on, kept a nice 10 pounder for the smoker. We also had 3 nice big rockies that we brought home for dinner. Saw a fisheries patrol go by, but they never stopped. Im guessing they were heading home:) They went out through active pass. Heading out again now to see how it is. Also heard of someone pulling in a nice spring in the 20 pound range from porlier last week.
