I believe it's Closed cell foam going in there they VP seal it then all the other fun stuff.Put new core in, glass it back up. Fair it out, match the gel and spray the whole side. Not a cheap solution but better than any other option. Make grady great again Deryk! Ps. I'm surprised they core the hulls on the 232. I know our 228 wasn't cored. I know the bigger expresses are cored and they have issues. To bad they didn't use a closed cell foam.
What caused the impact and how did water get into the core? I was surprised to find my Seasport has Balsacore lining from waterline down when I did a bottom repair.
I believe its called Davasil they use.. However they can not get it in the right diameter for this fix so it going to be balsa wood coreI believe the alternative to wood is coosa board - which can be used for vessel sidewalls.

So not a quote but an estimate. I'm not sure when those became interchangeable but they definitely get thrown around as though they're the same thing lately. If it was a "quote", then any deviation from that scope would require an approved change order. They gave me a quote so we will see were it lies after it's all done.. if it's south or north of it![]()
Couldn't agree more.. that should be built in to the expertise of estimating... Not "it's likely this price.. oh nevermind that will be $3000 more".So not a quote but an estimate. Sorry, I just hate... everything these days. LOL
For what it is worth, I had some work done at the same place that is doing this for Derby, and James honored the original number. I was nervous about it too because there was never anything in writing until the day I picked up the boat and they printed up the invoice. But the number he gave me verbally when he first looked at it was the number on the invoice. So not a quote but an estimate.
