Gold River to Kyuquat

Anyone make the boat trip from gold river up to kyuquat before? Wondering how long it took and how the section of open water treats you. In your personal vessel, not the Uschuck. Any insight is appreciated.
Tight Lines

The area you want to be concerned with is from outside of Catala Island until you get behind Grassy Island. All depends on the weather of course. Very doable, but you need to be flexible. Last year we did the run and left a night early to avoid the wind the next day. Spent the night at Queens Cove on the hook to get an early start the next morning. Ran in some snotty stuff a couple of times. Mornings are best usually. Its not that far but it is shallow close to shore and everything gets amplified in bad weather. I've done it in a Campion 542 and a Kingfisher 2425. If the lodge boats from Port Eliza are staying inside due to weather, you should too!

This is really helpful, thanks for taking the time. Ultimately I’m just trying to avoid the road into fair Harbour, but I think I’ll stick with that next go around as it will be late may and still a wide variety of weather
