Go Slow Whale Zone Port Renfrew to Bamfield

Planning a trip to Bamfield in a couple of weeks and may trailer to Port Renfrew rather than Port Alberni. Would head out early and work our way around to Bamfield, doing some fishing on the way. Weather dependent and would look at forecast the day prior.

Does anyone have a good map of the "go slow" zone and how much of a pain is it to cruise along the coast from Renfrew to Bamfield? Can't seem to find much up to date online - just the 2022 maps.

WHY its quite clear from carmanah to tresle its 10 kts .

I just mapped it out looks like over 10.68 NM where ya have to go thru thats gonna take over a hour what a joke id go to alberni personally .

I did this run in june and it took me just over 3 hours i did consider renny BUT truck gas and a place to leave truck and trailer was gonna cost me more then running my boat it took 30 gallons up and 30 back

guides and us peasants travel to nitinat all the time, nobody slows down, hammer down, last year DFO was enforcing it at times but not much, its like taking you chance on a speeding ticket, that rules is stupidity at its best by DFO, bobbing like a cork in a big sea doing 10 knots is not fun

I had a humpback full breach just off the quarter maybe 25 feet at 45km/h from Renfrew to Nitinat. Weren’t going to hit it, but it definitely got the heart pumping.

If you're on AIS they will hail you. I've seen/heard CG at South Pender doing it. lf you've got Class B turn it off
