Subject: FN0397-Coho: Johnstone Strait, Strait of Georgia and Juan de Fuca Strait - Areas 11 to 20 - Opportunities

Effective 00:01 June 1, until 23:59 December 31 the daily limit for coho salmon
in Areas 11 to 20 is two (2) per day, both of which must be hatchery marked.
In addition to the opportunity above:
Area 11/111
- Effective 00:01 June 1 to 23:59 July 31, the daily limit for coho salmon in
Subareas 11-1 and 11-2, 12-14 and Area 111 is two (2) per day.
- Effective 00:01 August 1 to 23:59 December 31, the daily limit for coho in
Subareas 11-1 and 11-2, 12-14 and Area 111 will be two (2) per day, of which
one (1) can be unmarked.
- Effective 00:01 April 1 to 23:59 December 31, the daily limit for coho salmon
in Subareas 11-3 to 11-10 is four (4) per day.
Area 12
- Effective 00:01 June 1 to 23:59 August 1, the daily limit for coho salmon in
Subareas 12-3 to 12-13, 12-15 to 12-19 and 12-21 to 12-48 is two (2) per day
one (1) of which can be unmarked.
- Effective 00:01 August 1 to 23:59 December 31, the daily limit for coho
salmon in Subareas 12-26 to 12-48 will be two (2) per day one (1) of which can
be unmarked.
- Effective 00:01 August 15 to 23:59 December 31, the daily limit for coho
salmon in Subareas 12-16, those waters of Hardy Bay inside a line from Daphne
Point to Duval Point where salmon is permitted will be four (4) hatchery marked
per day.
- Effective 00:01 August 15 to December 31 that portion of Subarea 12-4
shoreward of a line running from Lewis Point to 50°32.839' north latitude and
126°50.122 west longitude near the southwest entrance to Telegraph Cove
commonly known as Beaver Cove will be two (2) coho per day 1 of which may be
unmarked.
- Effective 00:01 August 15 to December 31 that portion of Subarea 12-19, the
waters of McNeill Bay inside a line from Ledge Point to the BC Ferry Terminal
will be two (2) coho per day 1 of which may be unmarked.
Area 13
- Effective 00:01 August 15 to 23:59 September 15, the daily limit for coho
salmon in Subareas 13-20 to 13-21, described as those waters of Bute Inlet
lying Northerly of a line running from Harbott Pt on Stuart Island to Johnstone
Bluff on the Mainland shore and Southerly of the western boundary of the
Rockfish Conservation Area located northeast of Alpha Bluff, will be two (2)
per day one (1) of which can be unmarked.
Area 14:
- Effective 00:01 September 1 to 23:59 December 31, the daily limit for coho
salmon in Subareas 14-11, Baynes Sound inside a line from the Cape Lazo Light,
then to the P-54 Bell Buoy on Comox Bar, then to Longbeak Point, then to the
mouth of Hart (Washer) Creek, will be two (2) per day one (1) of which can be
unmarked.
Area 16:
- Effective 00:01 June 1 to 23:59 December 31, the daily limit for coho salmon
in Sechelt Inlet and Porpoise Bay, southerly of a line from Nine Mile Point to
a boundary sign on the opposite shore is four (4) hatchery marked per day.
Area 19:
- Effective 00:01 October 1 to 23:59 December 31, the daily limit for coho
salmon in Area 19, will be two (2) per day one (1) of which can be unmarked.
Area 20:
- Effective 00:01 September 5 to 23:59 December 31, the daily limit for coho
salmon in Subarea 20-2 and 20-1(in the area shoreward of a line between a
square white boundary sign at Owen Point, Port San Juan Light/Whistle Buoy, and
San Juan Point) will be four (4) per day, of which only two (2) may be unmarked.
- Effective 00:01 October 1 to 23:59 December 31, the daily limit for coho
salmon in a portion of Subarea 20-1 (seaward of a line between a square white
boundary sign at Owen Point, Port San Juan Light/Whistle Buoy, and San Juan
Point) and 20-3 to 20-7 will be four (4) per day, of which only one (1) may be
unmarked.
Sport Anglers are reminded that these limits only apply in the waters open to
fishing for salmon, please contact the nearest Fisheries and Oceans Canada
office or visit our website for information on salmon and finfish closures and
for descriptions of the Rockfish Conservation Areas, which remain closed year
round.
Sport anglers are also reminded to participate in the voluntary Salmon Sport
Head Recovery program by labeling and submitting heads from adipose fin-clipped
salmon. Recovery of coded-wire tags from adipose fin-clipped salmon provides
critical information for coast wide stock assessment.
