Not stealing money in taxes from a company is not subsidizing it. The money a company make does not belong to the government it belongs to the companies it’s not up to the government to decide how much we can retain or how much a company can retain. Any money taken in taxes from a company is gone it’s lost, the government disposes of it. Any money kept by a company is used in re investment to grow the company and adds jobs and grows the economy.
You want to bring gas prices down in your province get after them to build that pipe and a couple more like it, you would be surprised what can happen. Otherwise get used to it and get ready to pay even more.
What about the tax money is used to provide govt services that the private sector can't or won't provide? (e.g. think of social services) What about all the services and infrastructure that comes from taxes like highways, hospitals, schools, prisons? What about testing our food for safety, monitoring the environment for pollution, providing police, fire, ambulance, search and rescue, the coast guard and the military? We could not live as a society with out them.
Also many companies do not reinvest in the company to create more jobs, grow the company and the economy but many times just increase the payouts to shareholders, executive bonuses, or buy more of their own stock. Here are just a few of many articles that illuminate this trend:

It just is not a simple situation that if we reduce taxes
all corporations will
always reinvest in their operations, create jobs and grow the economy, especially true for large multi-national corporations (their shareholders
always come first).
The reason that gas is more expensive in BC is that the oil companies unilaterally jack up the prices (with no justification or rationale) in this case 13 cents because they can and the govt is too spineless to do anything about it! This IMO is total bulls!t and we as citizens and consumers should wake up and tell the oil companies to stuff their BS, unsubstantiated price increases in BC!
IMO is just seems like they want to punish the lower mainland for not supporting the new pipeline. I don't care in this case if you support the pipeline or not, when corporations and not
consumers decide the price of things that is
not a true free market economy and just plain corruption, greed and abuse of power! My 2 bits!
