What gets planted when the garlic is pulled? I’m not a big fan of beans so looking for an alternative in a smaller space.

carrots? For a fall harvest

Our peach tree sucked for fruit this year.
The tree is young but last year we got 30-40 peaches, this year 7.

Ours is down from the usual60 - 80 to around a dozen and a half.
There were lots of bees around (we house Mason Bees) so I don't think that was it...

Mine is only 3 years old. Still trying to figure out how to prune correctly. I got about half doz peaches on branches I thought I should have cut off and none were I thought they would grow. My buddy in Shawnigan has a ton. So many he is saying help yourself.
Raspberries on the other hand produced excellent this year. Just about done now.

I think I’d have to plant my garden full of baby cucumbers to do pickles, there is never enough at the same time, did some fridge ones that worked out decent

As my wife and I age we've realized that small batch canning and preserving, smoking ( salmon, fruits n veggies) is worth it. Back in the day it was always not worth doing unless we have 100lbs mentality is long gone. Best Regards

My general rule of thumb has always been to harvest when the bottom 2/3 of the leaves turn brown. And the fact that the plants have quite noticeably shrunk in sie - in my case nearly 1/3 shorter now. I'm getting close:



The Bulbils are forming nicely. Of course those plants will be held back until they ripen and burst.

I do not water the garlic for a week or 2 before pulling so they are not caked in dirt. I also hang them high and run a fan on them for 2 weeks until they are really dry. They clean up more easily and last a lot longer that way

When starting garlic from the bulbils, do you just leave them in ground for another year, or do you pull them and replant in the fall/winter?
