Gardening pics, hacks, successes, and or failures

I give them to neighbors, fishing friends and drop off a some at the ESQ Angler for a morning snack for the guys who are monitoring the boat launches.
There is nothing like sun dipper tomatoes and I have more than we could every eat.

A big ol bear came to visit the wine grapes last night so it was time to pick them. This is about half of them. Still got to get the rest plucked off their stems.

Bear decided to exit through the chain link fence. Not over, just through it haha. Too big to get over

Those Sun Dipper tomatoes are making it on next years grow list. What's another must have tomato larger variety to grow?

How sweet are those compared to the sweeter cherry tomato varietals??
They are the best small tomatoes going. low in acid, small seeds, meaty, and the skins never tough. Way better than cherry tomatoes.
Who ever I give them to, they love them and call them candy. I always bring some to the ESQ shack for the guys and they are all gone in minutes.

When the winter storms blow mounds of seaweed onto the shore, we haul as much as my back can handle onto the garden and let it sit through the rains, then till it in in the spring. Not a hack I guess, but we have a remarkably good producing garden on what I'd consider sketchy soil, and none of the usual bugs and molds etc that seem to hit alot of gardeners.

Where can a guy get some seeds?

OK, you have me somewhat convinced.
I will try a plant or two for next season.

Cheers & Thanks!

The seeds are the size of pin heads and I gave some to a friend and he sprouted them but it was to late in the season to get them going so they are not producing much fruit.

I get my plants from which ever garden shop has them. Sun Dipper plants are hard to find and usually Garden Works in Colwood get's some in.
I got home Sat after being away for a few days and had to do a 4th pick on the two plants and before the rain came in. Picked 450 and the plants still have more to to be picked in the next few days.

The plants that keep giving.

I did my last pick (5) from the Sun Dipper tomatoes. picked 578 and my other two plants. Then chopped down and cleared out all my plants except for the pepper plants.
Probably dropped off 600+ tomatoes at the Esq Anglers over the last few weeks. In the end, two Sun Dipper plants produced over 1800 tomatoes. It was a great year for all my tomatoes and pepper plants.

Next year, keep your eyes open for Sun Dipper plants at your local Gardening stores. As long as you give them lots of water they are the plants that keep giving.

Onto regular plums of late...

I have a 5 gallon bucket stewing in the back yard. 3 months later it is just lowering from a gagging stench to a nasty found an old pack of anchovies in my truck aroma.
I put some leaf mould and kimchi in for added micronutrients and fermentation.
You need to have a tight lid and a method to vent/burp so it doesn't explode.
I'm going to bury it in my leaf compost to avoid freezing and use it next year.
