Thatās a wrap! 2023 Galiano Salmon Classic is in the books!!!!
First off, thx to our major sponsors (The Window Viper; Vizsla Copper Corp.; and Northwest Marine Servies) and the many other donors and all of the participants who make this event possible! Montague Harbour Marina (Amber, Kalla and Willem) were all great help and the staff at crane and robin performed wonders given the crowd
Some nice salmon were released and some great hatchery salmon and lingcod were weighed.
1st prize - Dave Cleave with a 13.75lb Hatchery spring
2nd prize - Scott Murray with an 84cm released spring!
Ling King - Aaron Liva with a 14.5lb lingcod (hidden weight).
Everyone was a winner though as we had sunny skies, solid fishing and lots of laughs on the deck of the The Crane and Robin and raised over $3,500 for Pacific Salmon Foundation salmon restoration work.

That was a ton of fun last year! Iām booked up already for end of May, but if itās the May 4th weekend Iām there! Thanks for putting this derby together every year Cory, see you March 9th in Victoria for the PSF Gala fundraiser

Registration info will be out shortly. The derby will take place on Saturday May 25th (more than 2 months from now) at Montague Harbour, Galiano Island... same location and same date (last Saturday in May) for a while now. You can follow along for updates here or on the Facebook page (Galiano Salmon Classic) or the Instagram Page (galiano_salmon_classic). Last year we were able to retain a hatchery salmon in some nearby fishing areas so we will have to see what the regs hold in store for us this year before finalizing a format but the derby will take place no matter what the regs are. thanks for everyone's interest and looking forward to May 25th!
