Fused Rod

I'm replacing all my downrigger rods this winter. They were the abu Garcia workhorse rods. Great rods and at 18 years old several are fused together. What should I use on the new ones to keep them from sticking together?

just service them a few times a year. what will you replace them with?

Not really sure yet. Thinking of the Shimano tdr in medium heavy 8'6" as I liked that length in the abu Garcia.

Just about ready to use a vice and probably break it. Talked to a bud who works at a place with a walk in freezer left for two days and with a good tug came apart nicely.

Just rubbing behind your ear and rubbing it on the inside ferrule has always worked for me. Rick from Compleat Angler showed me that in the 70’s
