Fridge problem

[Degree of Freedom]

This whole fridge on a boat thing is new to me...the 'new' boat is sitting in the driveway, and when I turn the fridge on (shorepower plugged in) I can hear it running, but it doesn't get cold.
Is it f'd or am I missing something?
The driveway's not level, but I wouldn't think that would matter with an electric fridge...maybe it does?

it does have to be as level as possible otherwise the refrigerant doesnt get heated properly causing poor flow and it will burn out the tube around the heater area at least this is what happened with my fridge in my 5th wheel, level it up and see what happens

if it continues to not cool sometimes pulling them out and let thrm sit upside down for a while helps

have you seen the prices for marine fridges?! No **** bigger boat = empty wallet...still lovin it, though.

X2 on the turn it over. Take it out turn it upside down and leave it for 2-3 days

Does the fridge run on propane also? Some times because propane burns wet it can rust the chimney and the rust falls on the burner and it will not burn properly. Just blown or vacumn them out and they usually will work. I've seen this on lots of campers, trailers and motorhomes. If it does not run on gas try the turn upside down trick as others have done.

It's 4 screws to walk the fridge out of the hole. If you smell ammonia, or see yellow crap caked on the coils, then your fridge is done. If you take the DC heater off the bottom of the coils, and apply gentle flame witha Burn-Zo-Matic torch, and the coils get hot and the fridge gets cold, you have a problem with the circuit board/cold control, which doesn't hurt quite as much as a new fridge. If the boat is out of level, it' will more likekley freeze solid verus not work at all.

Sweet , seems to be some vast knowledge regarding fridges here and I have a problem with mine. Sorry to hijack . I have an 07 trophy 2359 new to me this year, the fridge although it smelled horrible once cleaned it worked fine. It did seem to be stained yellowish on the entire inside. Fridge runs off plug in shore power or battery. It just stopped working, only thing I can see wrong is the little green led light to indicate power on broke off and now the fridge will not run. I turn the power switch on and you can hear a very faint echo type sound for a second but nothing happens. Breakers and power source are fine. Does any one know if its possible because the light is attached to the circuit board it shut down the whole board when it broke off. Thanks in advance.

finally got around to pulling it out...there's green sh%$ on the cooling unit...looks like it might be f#$ked. Two problems...looks like the boat was built around the fridge (cabin door's narrower than the fridge) and the replacement unit is $1200.

Door of the fridge can be removed on most of them. How about your forward hatch? Wow that is an expensive fridge-is it a 3 way or just a 2 way? If it is 3 way -it is considerably cheaper to go 2 way-my two way works fine on a house battery-we turn it off at night or it drives you crazy listening to it cycle.

two-way electric...looks like the flange around the outside of the fridge will come off...that'll let me just squeeze it through.
Looking to replace it with an rv fridge rather than marine...$500 cheaper (probably just do without for the rest of this year).

I have a nor cold which is an RV fridge-2 way 1.9 cu ft draws about 2.2 amps-I have seen them for around 500 down the states. Mine has worked well for 9 years-probably jinxing it now!! good luck-by the way I measured mine after your problem-just in case!!!

I know this sounds like it came from an idiot, but an appliance repair guy told me that if you take the fridge out and wrap it in a padded blanket, and gently roll it around in the yard, you can sometimes get them working again. Something about mixing up the gas or chemicals? I did not make this up, honest.

There is a guy in New brunswick that has rebuilt cooler units, thats just the piping and cooling on the back side,
I used him for my RV fridge when it went and it cost me half of new and works perfect.
