Freezing salmon for later processing

Vac sealing if done properly can easily last a year in the freezer. Beyond that I don't know, rule at our house is last year's fish has to be eaten before any new fish goes in the freezer.
 
What I do is to take the fish I did not use, thaw it, smoke it and then can it. It makes a wonderful pate/dip when mixed with cream cheese.
