With most of the fishing tackle made today it comes from over seas, what tackle standed up better, what year about did the changes come,I have tacked to lots of people they are saying paint falls off very easy and the tape is not good to,and changing out the hooks to after a couple times out,I guess you get what you pay for

I like the Gibbs spoons. Locally made and they seem to last quite well. Tomic plugs, another great BC made product. Can't beat them.

I can’t tell if this is a serious comment about Gibbs spoons they work great but some don’t even last a fish and they might as well not even come with hooks .The ones that don’t straighten out just fall off the spoon they are the worst
Side note though tailspin skinny g was definetly my top producing spoon this past summer

No not about Gibbs tackle I use skinny g too.coyote spoons the hooks are not very good paint does not stay on very well and after a couple fish they will bend, the USA made coyotes were the best

I liked the AP ones I got this year. Where are lighthouse made? The paint fell off of those in no time.

A long time ago a old timer from Victoria used to make spoon with very light metal after one or two fish you had to rebend them,I used them for trout when salmon fry were coming out I catch a lot of trout on the spoon it was shaped like a s

fishing tackle today is a joke. You seriously think all those UV, jellyfish, radar ***** finishes actually make a difference? And they just happen to be interesting/attractive to the human eye. It's all made to attract the fishermen and they need to keep coming out with something new ever season to keep the sheep buying.

You run a red hot spot and a gold betsy all year - guarantee you outfish 99% of the googans out there.

Is googans a real PNW fishing term or do people just watch too much Wicked Tuna?

Define real?

I just used it, you knew what I meant, I'm in the PNW...
Haha true enough. I guess what I meant was did it originate from the show or have guys used it in these parts pre WT. I'm not having a **** I was just genuinely interested to know.

Also sorry for the derail on the thread o_O

This is the most accurate thing I’ve read in awhile

No recent lure made is meant to or needs to catch fish, only fishermen=successful marketing. Probably the reason I have many tackle boxes and 60+ flashers at last count. Not sure why those old spoons are in my tackle box and still shinny, yet the new expensive fancy color ones all rust in their tray after only a few weeks.

Dam I have been caught.

Spoons are pretty cheap. I don’t care if a coho killer or a skinny g catches a few fish and gets chipped up and retired. I have 5 of each of them. I do throw a better hook on right away though. I have hundreds of those.
