Does anyone know of a good fishing report website for BC... all of the ones I can find rarely have any current info.

Thanks

Thanks for the links! Some of these are pretty decent actually, I like fishbc for the forum but they dont have good reports other than that.

I just came across a sweet one doing a google search a few minutes ago. It looks fairly new and has tons of freshwater and saltwater reports for BC. Looks like it has new reports submitted daily judging by the report dates. It also has a forum and some free contests. Its worth a look.

The site is www.fishtactics.com

victoriaboater, those are some great links to have on hand. I will keep you bookmarked. I see you found that fishtactics site too.

Totally Tyee - Our family has property up on the coast near Roberts Creek (between Camp Byng and Bonnie Brook to be exact).

I've been fishing the area from the mid 70's to the present, but I don't have a lot of experience outside of the immediate area since I only have a 12 foot tin can with a 4 hp motor. I've caught some good fish in my day up there though, but it's been steadily getting worse (except for 1998... that was a banner year... amazing fishing).

How about you?

Thanks Pablo. My family has recently purchased a place in Madiera Park (sp) and I've been watching the reports ttrying to get a grasp on the area the best I can without actually fishing it.

TT - nice.... should be better fishing up there than we have on the South end of the coast. Not as many Dungeness up that way, but more of everything else. Another nice benefit of the area is that it's less exposed than the area I fish. Less people up that way too.

Our property has been in the family since the early 30's. Amazing to look at the pics from back then as compared to now. It's almost starting to feel like a suburb of Vancouver. [V]

Porcupine, I'm pretty impressed with the fishtactics.com site I posted above. I emailed the administrators and they told me they plan to have 100 reporting areas for BC by summer time and they said that their reports should never be more than 2 weeks old.. with most being weekly and some being daily reports.

Their site looks good, no question about it. Did you notice that they take the Island Outfitter Fishing Report and break it up to all the individual lakes, saltwater sites, etc. I guess that's how they will reach that quantity of reports, not that it makes any difference. As for their sources, I hope that they are as reliable as possible and not just anything anyone says. After all, the quality is as important as the quantity.

Yeah I noticed that too. You are absolutely right, quantity means nothing without the quality.. time will tell.

Porcupine, what areas do you fish mostly?

Thanks. I set it up originally for me and a few friends. Its a quick place to get tides, weather, reports, fishing info and lots of other stuff and anything else you might need before heading out on the water. There is a big update coming soon so keep your eyes open.

Cheers

porcupine, Ive heard the fishing is not what it used to be in the Oak Bay area and is especially slow in the summer the past few years. Is this true?

doubletake, there are many areas where the fishing isn't as good as it used to be! The information that I get is that is slower than in previous years. Also, there are a lot less people fishing that area, so a lot less fish are going to be caught. I usually fish Oak Bay in the May - June period. Somedays the fish are there and cooperative, and other days they are not. Sometimes they bite all day, other times only in the morning or afternoon. That said, most of the Victoria guides do not fish there as much as they used to, as they have large fast boats that can easily head west to where there are stronger runs of fish. July has been slow off both Victoria and Oak Bay for the last couple of years. Then at the end of July or early August, we get our run of big springs that hug the shoreline and kelp beds. Last year I did not fish east of Trial Island but once in May-June because the fsihing was so good (one of, if not my best years ever)west of Trial Island. I was away in July so don't have much first hand knowledge and the first two weeks of August were very slow. Then I did great with many limits of mature springs and getting good fish every trip.
