Tips m,thanks for the info. will look into that before i go .

I spent a couple of weeks in San Jose del Cabos, just up the coast from Cabo at xmas time a few years ago. According to guys who fish there lots, some years the fish are closer to shore and can be caught from the beach and some years they aren't. For about $150 you can find a local to take you out and get some tuna, etc. The big dollars are needed for when you go after marlin, sailfish, etc.

I was in Cabos 10 years ago I think it was wahoo we were fishing for went out with some guy we met down there we only came back with one .
I do remember lots of people fishing from shore cant recall what they were fishing for .

A buddy just got back and there was a big tourney lots of Marlin and Sails taken and released so now is the time.

Tournament Proven !

A Panga will set you back about $US200/day-expect to pay $US2 apiece for bait in the AM.
Bait is where it's at unless you're trolling-a guide who specialises in Flyfishing will cost you closer to $US350.
Flyrods are useless in most cases while fishing from the beach-can't cast far enough.
Take heavy Steelhead gear-spoons/spinners & big/flashy.
Don't give anyone a Peso until you see the boat you'll be fishing aboard-how's your Spanish?

livin' la vida pesca!

Thank you for all the input from everybody who replied to my question, all good tips and will try almost anything for a good fight from any fish. Lightgear the chug......

From the beginning of Nov. till Feb. is the season for offshore angling on the west coast of Mex.. It usually depends on when the rainy season is done. During the height of the rains, guides will take you as far as 60 miles off shore, and charge you upwards of $400 u.s. without a guarantee. As the season progresses the offshore species move closer meaning a bit of a break on the charter fee. As for inshore fishing, there are cuda, mahee, and other coarse species at a fraction of the cost.. Do a little research, the web is full of options. Hope it helps.-dirty

Do a Google for Cod Father Charters. They are based out of Port Hardy. He has a boat or two that he works down there through the winter. He's big and ugly, but is a Cracker-Jack of a fisherman!

If you speak with him DON'T mention the words Dean or Group Therapy.......The price will likely go UP!

Good Luck!

Some like it rough...
Others just puke!.
