Esquimalt or Pedder Launch - Going to Constance

Hey boys,

I don't have any charts in front of me and I'm just wondering which is the closest launch to get out to Constance. Keep in mind we are trailering our boat (a big 21 footer). My guess is that Esquimalt would be the best place to drop her in the water given all of the extra distance to tow out to Pedder.

Any commnents? Thanks in advance.

There used to be a boat lauch near Ogden Point on Dallas Road.I launched there years ago, when Mercury Marine was doors away.It was called the James Bay lauch,I think?
Telling you in case you live in town it would be closer drive.

One thing about esq. launch if a westerly comes up it is a lot nicer being pushed then hammering all the way back to pedder.the james bay one is ok but there is no dock and most times covred in wood.

hey wolf,do you know what happened to the dock? Correct me if i'm wrong but doesn't James bay have their own anglers club? If it's now gone that would explain no dock. crying shame,:( used to have a good derby outta there in the mid-'80's.

I havent seen a dock there in over 10 plus years. And I couldnt tell you if there is a club or not never was a memberalways and esq member.

There's a clubhouse (shack) with a drop box for launch fees.
A few years back I bought an annual launch pass.
Crappy launch, usually covered in wood and kelp like Wolf said.

I fish constants alot (hence my user name), and almost alway leave from cattle point, mind you it is the closest ramp to my house, but I find that the ramp is alway clean (unlike dirty dirty James Bay ramp which hasn't been cleaned since I was born. And its a little more scenic, worth the extra mile or two if you ask me.
