Engine troubles-Yamaha

Went to go fishing yesterday and noticed something was different. There was oil in the water and the motor well. Not much maybe a teaspoon. Pulled off the motor cover and there was a bit of oil in there was well. It almost looked like it was coming out of a cylinder? I couldnt really find where it was coming from so i checked the oil and it was still full and started her up. Smoked more than normal for about 2 minutes then was perfect? I dont know much about motors so im hoping someone here can help. The engine is a 30hp yamaha oil injected 1998 model. Never had troubles before now. The motor was raised and the weather was really hot. Could heat have caused it? Thanks for any info.

Hi Kelly, i have a yamaha 70 oil injected, and if i filled up the oil res to high the heat of the day would expand the oil and cause a little weepage, as for the the smoking i dont know, just keep your eye on that, what brand of oil are you using, my engine seems happiest with the shell 2 stroke oil
