So any word besides pinks on the east side rivers yet what to bring my son out. With no boat this is one of the only ways I can get him into salmon.

Big qualicum will open for Chinook Sep 1 above the hatchery and can be good but busy, if you like c/r and fly fishing focus on the lower englishman and little q.

The Big Q and Puntledge offer retention for chinook and coho (Sept 1 and Oct 1 respectively). They're both dam controlled flows, so while fishing after a rain is still the way to go, they can have fish before some of the other rivers. Just get there early in the morning as the retention makes for mega crowds.
