Anyone hear of a tsuanami warning for the west coast.
Sounds like Masset 7.7

Just heard a pan pan for a tsunami warning. I'm on a tug just passing Kelsey Bay, heading north.

7.7 according to the coast guard.

Going to hit Tofino at 10:09 tonight. Too fast for me to get my boat out of the water. Fingers crossed.

All the low areas of Tofino are void of people. Tsnami siruns going. I feel that it is unlikely to cause damage. Needless to say I left my house and am waiting for the stand down.

This is the first time I have seen everyone actually evacuate!

The town, which is on high ground, is full of people like it is summer time.

Sandspit had at least 3 good shakers. Some are heading for the hills.
GLTA
(means good luck to all)

Good Luck bird. Heard on Global the seas have risen over 9 feet in QC.

Keep us posted and stay safe.

Still recording multiple (5) aftershocks along this fault line. NO Tsunami of any significance reported, only minor spike under 50 mm thankfully.

Last update from Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre - no big deal - note the amplitude measures which are very minor taken from ocean buoy data readers real time. We dodged the bullet this time.

Being on the water as I write this, you sure don't hear much over the radio lol. I guess what can they really tell ya, its not a completely predictable event. It just seems like transport canada is also waiting to hear of damage so they can tell you about it.... Not much said in terms of predictions......

I do not have much to report. there is still an advisory for strong currents. The town is MT again so I guess everyone went home. And thats a day in the life of a west coaster.
I look forward to seeing data from this event.
