I've move into a bigger boat & want to upgrade downriggers. Who has an opinion on brand? Scotty...Cannon...Walker...Big John. How about opinions on electric vs manual. I might downrig 10 weekends a year. Great Lakes.........Tenn/Ky for Stripers

The best units on the market are made by Scotty http://www.scotty.com
Guaranteed for life, tough as nails and easy to fix if you do break something.
Penn makes a very smooth unit but pricey-very pricey.
No doubt electric is the only way to.

Electric downriggers are the best if you are fishing deeper then 50ft or you want to troll for halibut offshore...

yeap them electric drigger sure are nice! even a 12 year old knows where its at

I run two scotty electrics 60 inch boom propacks with the two rodholers on the base attatched to a tilt and swivel love them !!!
What I love even more is every year I have them serviced and respooled with the only cost being for the cable !!! They fix or replace everything wow talk about service and beyond !!!

Cheers ME:)

Happy Hookin!!!

Look at all the guide boats there running scotty's for a reason!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's deffinently a no brainer, especially when Scotty will service your riggers anytime no questions asked. Why would you use anything else? Unless your a yankee and perfer those gay cannon riggers.

Saw an american in a 25 foot open aluminum boat at china creek this summer. 250 tiller! 4 cannon downriggers 8 rods! yes 8! To top it off he barely caught anything!
