Do You Store Lures With Leaders Pre Tied/

I've now got enough spoons, hootchies and plugs that storage is becoming a mess. I've been tying leaders and swivels to my lures at home to save doing it on the boat, but storage of all of these leaders is becoming a pain. Do you tie your leaders to your lures ahead of time, or just tie up a leader when you want to use the lure? If you pre tie them, then how do you store all of this stuff? I've experimented with foam boards and with wrapping the leaders around scraps of plywood, but those methods take up a lot of space.

Advice appreciated!

Thanks.

I use straws as well but only 3/4”-1” lengths. Hoochies and Flashflies need the leader tied to the lure but for spoons I use a combination of pre-tied rigs and leaders only of different lengths (5’-6’)with a quick-change so just the spoon itself can be changed out quickly.
I separate pre-tied rigs in snack size ziplock bags to prevent tangles and to keep damaging moisture out.
I keep more teaser head rigs tied ahead than anything else simply because I go through more of them.

Time to go tackle box shopping !
i just tie up a few and make the rest on the fly, once you get practice it’s no problem for solo fishing different if running a charter boat
I used to cut a rectangular chunk of cardboard six inch by a foot poke the swivel clasp into the open end of cardboard wrap line tight and put hook in done easy peasy and stack in their own tackle box

I used to use straws but found it gave the line a permanent kink.
Use pool noodles now and they work great. Make a thin cut one end to the other and then make a mark every one inch with a sharpie.
Swivel goes in the cut and then wrap around the noodle and fasten with hook into the noodle. Found some containers with locking lids that take 2 x 16 inch noodles to keep everything organized

I use pool noodles as well. For hootchies and teaser heads I will have three to four tied up. Then just another three to four hook setups for each tied up. Easy to throw a hootchie or teaser head on pre tied hooksets.

I pre tie everything but plugs and large spoons.
I Keep them on foam leader boards in a Tupperware container and organize spoons by size and hootchies by glow or UV. I hate trying to tie gear in the middle of a tack.

I pre tie all my gear and also bring along some pre tied hook sets with no teaser heads attached. I fish for springs with bait 99% of the time and if I find one color is working better than others, I will add a teaser head and swivel and make up a new set on the boat. I change my leaders almost every second trip or if I see any kinks in the line or rust on the line where it connects to the hook I change it out.

I never wrap the leader line around the flasher, the cork board or anything. I do not like kinks in the line so I loop the line and only set the hooks into the cork board or place the made up hook set in a plastic sandwich bag.

Here are some Coho and Spring set ups.

Thanks for sharing @Doug
What is that squared top teaser head with the orange dot? I don’t think I seen that one before.

I pre-tied my leaders and looped and wrapped my swivel tags end on a loop too to prevent unraveling.
Thanks,

I won't keep many leaders pre-tied for very long, because I hate having any kinks in the line, and like to have fresh leader material. I will prep a few leaders before a trip, depending on what I am expecting to fish for those days, given the location, time of year, etc... If I'm fishing bait, I'll tie up roughly a dozen pre-tied leaders (tandem singles), loop the leader material for storage in small snack baggies or just on the dash of the boat, then slip on the teaser head that I think make sense for the local conditions, water colour, depth etc... Spoons, I'll pre-tie a few before the trip with the expected colours or the old faithfuls (Skinny G Bon Chovy or Herring Aide etc), loop the leader, slip the swivel over the hook, and keep it hung by the hook. Same idea with hoochies. I won't keep those specific leaders tied for more than a few days to avoid any random damage and lost fish to unknown line failures.

That teaser head is a modified peanut butter head that has been used. With most heads that glow and are painted, I fined they are painted to thick/or to much, and I file them down to remove some (60%) of the paint.

Hootchies rigged and leader coiled, and a couple teaser heads and that's it. Leader is cheap and way less clutter.
