Did you vote??

Yup. The wife and I just got back from our walk to the Luxton Polling Station where we did our civic duty...........

Yup.. Good thing the govt sells booze on voting day..

Of course. Far too many people sacrificed far too much 70 years ago so that we can vote. I will never ignore that privilege.

My 19 year old son voted for the first time today as well. He researched all the candidates and made his choice based on his research. He knows what our forefathers did so that we have this privilege. Not to be taken lightly.

Certainly did! Would never consider not voting, no matter how crappy the choices seem to be. My honest belief is that it should be 100% mandatory to vote, with huge fines if you do not vote. 50% or less voter turnout is absolutely ridiculous and a total slap in the face of our forefathers that fought for our rights to vote and to have a say in the governance of our nation and its territories. If you don't vote, you don't have a right to complain about the government.

Very good post.

Bring your kids to the voting booth and teach them how and why to vote.
That's what my parents did and the best part of today was my kid saying she looks forward to her turn.
Never missed an civic/provincial/federal election in 50 years.

What would said fines pay for? It's a privilege to not vote too.
I don't want to drag this off topic, but to quickly answer: How about putting the monies collected to supporting our veterans who have fought for our freedoms that far too many take for granted these days.

It would be interesting to see the demagraphics of who voted. Bet the younger 18-30 group did not vote much as all they think about is their smartphones, social media and what is happening in the next hour. They are used to living hour to hour, day to day, cheque to cheque and not planning for down the road. Sad to say but the next generation of voters are the ones who should be influencing the outcomes of elections etc....but they don't care enough.

Thanks to all who voted, for whom ever you did!!!!

Cheers
