DFO and Internet Social Sites.

I phoned DFO yesterday on someone I figured out was both guiding unlawfully and selling their catch from noticing something posted on a food blog then going to the poacher's website.

Anyone wanting details can shoot me an email.

I phoned about a boat fishing inside a Rock Fish Conservation Area. It
took a while and complaints from several other people but they finally
got them.

i think guys should be careful about posting the amount of fish they catch each day.also mentioning all the salmon and halibut they release each time might not be helpful as well.

...DFO reviews this and other websites almost daily, this is not new.

I think you might be right, Sad that it has got to that. It has come down to feeling guilty for a good day on the water now, with upturned noses and ominous looks. Even with Hali at one piece a day, and our take of just 12% of the TAC. Now a kick in the balls on the Springs too. Getting pretty political now, taking the fun factor out of it. Smells fishy to me!

All this is pretty funny. The DFO doesn't make any decisions about the sport fishery based on these websites. Better yet, there are even DFO employees running charter fishing businesses!!! (and they are posting on these websites too!!!!)

IF you have to worry.... Then maybe you do... otherwise keep fishing and tight lines. Besides, if you have to worry, then you aren't a sportsfisher you are a .....
