Does anyone have any experience with defoggers like this one from Caframo that plugs in?

I use a pair on my boat. 17 Double eagle soft top. They work okay but take some time. I turn them on before going about setting things up.

I tried too draw a huge amout of power and takes like 10 mins to defrost a window not really worth it to be honest... diesel heater works the best warm the whole boat

Yes they do draw lots of power. Part of me setting up is to flash the kicker and main poolside for warming up. A work around that works okay for me. But yeah, power draw is a drawback.

too much power. my low/high tech solution was to use a starlink mini below the windshield. it provides just enough warmth overnight so the windshield stays clear of frost. YMMV.
from this year on its not gonna be a problem since the boat is never going to be in cold weather again at the equator.

I used three of those out of necessity on my hourston they are as good as it gets for what you're trying to accomplish with DC wiring. They last a season or 2. Power pigs tho, use 10ga or better wiring on individual circuits, individual fusing and I direct wired opting not to use cig lighter. Short term cheap fix or get a new one every season simple but works

Never tried one but I always found just running a fan while I'm away from the boat keeps everything dry and clear. That's a moored boat on shore power though, so not an option for everyone.
