Seems like a good deal. Can't wait to see what you think.I have wanted to try the famous and off the charts expensive Japanese style Wagyu beef but have not wanted to say spend $300. for a steak dinner in a high end restaurant. I was at Costco Victoria recently and picked up some Top Sirloin BCEUF Wagyu beef steaks. Six round ones vacuum packed. They are from Kingsway Meats processed in Canada from Australian beef. Total price $51.53 The Unit price is $54.99 a Kg. I guess I will see if they live up to the hype. You can see the stratified fat in them.
Dang, was $17/kg a few months ago. I like it slow smoked to medium rare/medium doneness.Don't see Tri Tip too often. Costco on the island has AAA two per pack.
After trimming off lots of fat (that I use for Tallow) it ends up working out to $21/Kg for the meat with fat trimmed off. So decent price for nice meat.
They also have AAA thin cut short ribs if you wanna make Maui Ribs.View attachment 117717View attachment 117717View attachment 117718

Still $21.99/kg at costco. ($10/lb roughly)Tri-tip on sale at Thriftys $13.99 lb
Costco wins !Still $21.99/kg at costco. ($10/lb roughly)
I follow this also. Last post was in July.Maybe because beef prices are so high. This is one of my go-to threads but it's been pretty quiet lately.
Swelaps market in Kamloops whole briskets $4.99 a pound. I have gotten excellent beef from them lately and I think it's local. Had a bad run of strip loin from Costco and won't be doing that again. I think they have their own version of tripleA.
I've been looking but haven't found anything of note since last spring (I think) when I loaded up on prime rib. I still have 6 or 7 big beautiful rib steaks in the freezer so that'll get me through to Christmas when the deals come back. Lately nothing has been very good looking at all. Superstore had prime rib for $10.99 per pound a few weeks back but they looked SO bad. I decided to not even bother sharing it here.Yeah, now a sale just brings to price to ludicrous instead of insane.
Agree to disagree. I don't eat beef often, but when I prepare a quality cut myself, it's damn near orgasmic.Beef is just not worth it. Sure, like a good steak now and again, but end of the day, it's not that much better than other composed dishes using cheaper proteins.
