9' for coho is a great fit, especially as the action can be non-stop. I think you fish alone often, as do I, and it makes things more manageable with all the gaff releasing that needs to be done. **Pinks, too.**
So I've decided to keep 2 sets of rod/reels. The R3EF reels are going on my custom made 10'6 rods. I spooled 60lb braid with a 50ft mono leader using an FG knot.
I'll keep my Trophy XL QR reels (with islander springs) on my 9ft ugly stick bigwater rods. I respooled them with 60lb braid and 50ft mono leader as well.
I'll see what I like better and maybe sell a set later, or keep them as one nice set and one standard set depending on who I take out on the boat (newbies vs experienced fisherman)
