Cortes Island - Any bottom fish up there?

Hello,

I am heading up to Cortes Island a few times over the next few months. I've fished up there for salmon quite a bit and have had great success.
Not asking for any spots, but are there any lingcod / halibut in the area? also, has anyone ever been successful at finding any Sable fish up there?

There are sablefish around there. I know they have been successfully trapped in the area.

There have been reports of halibut caught out from the green can of Wilby Shoals towards Littlesnatch Isl.
I have caught one chicken there is 15 years, lucky you, all that you can keep are chickens now!!

Lingcod are around, but nobody will give you spots. They are currently getting the living crap kicked out of them while everyone waits for salmon to open.

i caught a hali in Lewis channel years ago while trolling for salmon. i would think there’s Lings in southside of cortes along all the rocky cliffs and outcrops. the north end of cortes has a RCA to watch out for.

I’ve always got lings and the normal species of rockfish around Cortes but as mentioned above lings arer scarce and seem to be on the small side.
