Catfish in elk lake

I’ve been interested in doing some fishing for catfish on my own at elk lake or some other lakes but I just don’t know where to fish for catfish. And I don’t have a boat so I’m gonna be fishing from shore. The bait that I’m gonna try using is some corn, worms and maybe some power bait if that works. I don’t really know what rig is good for elk lake so I would appreciate some help.

As kids we used to catch them in Trout Lake in Vancouver. Chunk of wiener was what we used for bait.
That old warf rotted away years ago, but that sure was a neat spot to fish from. We didn't get out camping or fishing as kids so that was my urban nature. Right after getting a combo burger and candy from the ball park, of course.

I see people fishing from shore at several areas of Elk Lake - along the highway, between the playground and the boat ramp on the north end, and along the west side, mainly at the fishing dock which you can drive to. Along the west side you can see [and hear] schools of fish [maybe carp?] attacking the surface. Several dozen at a time and their splashing is audible for quite a distance. No idea about catfish.
