Campbell River fishing trip

I am planning a fishing trip end of August with my family, can anyone give me some general ideas of areas that I can go, and if the fishing is still good end of august, I have a decent boat 24', any information is appreciated

The fishing will definitely still be good, at that time. Coho are a good size by then. Red can, “The Hump”(reef south of red can), and the green can to Francisco Point, on the south end of Quadra. Red can and Hump, pay attention to the current. Try to fish around slack current, at these spots, as it can be 6-7 kts.

Deep!!!!!!!

I had a hard time catching a few years ago until I dropped my gear down to 180+ft with a plug.

My bait/hoochies/spoons didn't do well at the 50-100ft mark, ended up talking to the gas dock guy and he said everyone here fishes deep...

Caught a 25lb spring off the green can on a plug at 25' ten years ago. Fish came out of the water beside the boat as my rod tip hit the water.

On the ebb tide work the Hump drift (CR side ) moving towards the lighthouse. on the flood cross the hump working towards the red can and green can. like others have said 15 lb minimum balls and expect to fish south of 200 feet. Blue meanies, OG144R hootchies. 602 and 700 glow plugs. if fishing plugs clip in minimum 40’ behind cannon to allow plug to freely move.

Anyone ever dropped the pick and actually targeted butts off the hump? Got a nice low 40’s there last year in the midst of a smoker chinook bite on the jig . Will be roaming the north end of the strait late July and wouldn’t mind killing a morning soaking some bait
