Cable vs. Braided

Thanks guys...you guys are the best. I'm actually buying a mechanic book for boats tomorrow...just to learn up on it plus read the manual like crazy to learn more...one area that I am not very well versed on..maybe because my dad isn't either haha. Sounds good I'll try er out on Thursday. Thanks again for the help!!!

I've found braid way easier for sure.

For autostop, the red beads from scotty don't slide.

For stacking lines, scotty also sells a "stacker" release clip that has two of the green releases plus a metal clip. The metal clip attaches to the braided line (loose) and then the green clip is attached above it, with the second green clip holding your fishing line. It doesn't slide at all. The bigger advantage for me is that when I inevitably forget about that top line, as I do at least once a day if not more, when the green clip hits the downrigger and pops off, the metal clip stays on, it just slides down to the bottom. That alone has probably saved me 3 or 4 clips already this year -- versus watching that $10 clip slowly sink away.

Reading this over, it sounds more complicated than it is! They cost a bit more, but worth it to me in not losing any more clips.
