Building boats from Hourston Glascraft molds

To clear any confusion the molds have not changed. They are exactly the same as when it was being made by Hourston, the well known 17 model used for rentals at Granville island, used by fishing lodges etc. the only slight change on the windshield is the angle of the slope on the side portions. The build quality will match the same west-bay has always been known for in their million dollar yachts. The same craftsmanship that went into producing the newer Granville island ferries also from west-bay. Likely surpassing the original Hourston quality. Price list will be included in the brochure PDF coming Monday.

Ya, good for you and your company. This is a tough crowd. Congrats and good luck. Bought my one and only Hourston back in 1975, a 14 ft runabout with a 40 hp Merc. I thought it was huge. 17 was a dream.

I had a 1977 17 ft hourston hard top for 18 years. My dad owned it before that. Had a 140 evinrude on it. Was a hot rod . Loved driving it. Caught lots of fish. My brother now owns it with a 140 Suzuki on it .Stringers have never been done. Still going strong

Prices seem quite reasonable. Have lots of good memories of the West Bay shipyard from the 90’s. Good luck with your venture.

So on a new purchase we're looking at about $60K plus trailer $4.5 K plus taxes = $72,240.
No electronics and no built in gas tank.
Don't get me wrong cuz I'd love to have one but you're looking at about $75 grand for a 17' boat.

Comparable to any new 17 ft boat. Nobody sells with electronics or trailers included. They’re all add-ones.

pay extra for custom hand hand crafted, ant coming of an assembly line in china.

Honestly I'm surprised they can even make it work-- a lot of times its the warranty and customer service that will kill you. This is not working, that ant working, how does this work , can you walk me though this.

then once you have 10-20-50-100 units out there times it by that. your taking guys of the floor then to deal with that.

Stringer design is slightly updated to accommodate some new engineering requirements for level floatation. The boat will be “unsinkable” and would stay level in a post crash event. Yes we have tried to remain as reasonable on prices as possible with also respecting the current market conditions. Potential unknown tariffs etc. Also why we offered a bare hull version without standard options. So people who are DIY minded can fit out their own boat to their liking on their own dime and time. We have also always been a semi custom yard so if the customer has something specifically in mind like a canvas top / hardtop etc. You can dream up some ideas and hand pick some extra goodies.

Stringers and transom were the weak point on the original Hourstons. Its the first question everyone asks about used ones. Mine was rebuilt with foam stringers and more glass around them than the original. Can't imagine buying one new and not going for the coosa board option.

Tough time for pre-sale condos, I’d guess same for boats. When I made an offer on marine business a few years ago I made the decision to skip the boat show, and do targeted marketing instead. I was building a boat I’d do a time lapse build and a bunch of build videos launching the brand again. Jasper Marine is getting tons of interest in their 22 online but not sure they are getting sales.

They have a Jasper Marine 22 at Inlet Marine which is located at ReedPoint Marina

It has been there for a while, or they have sold one, or more, and the one there is New Stock

Interestingly, it has a SeaKeeper installed

Nice. Seakeeper ride are the trim trab offerings, be a tight fit for a full seakepper in 22.
