Brag and show!

I'm not much for posting on here anymore due to all the negativity
I could post fish like David( Serengeti) as we fished side by side almost all season but after the crap comments that follow on this board it's just not worth the abuse...
The only bragging I'll do is of the posted photo below
My 7 year old baited the chovie, set the line in the clip, put the rod down with the downrigger all by himself to his chosen depth and not more that 5 minutes later...bang and he sets the hook and battles this 31 lb chinook to the boat all by himself...I never touched the rod once.
I tell everyone who has a chance to get the kids out on the water and teach them the finer points at a young age to do it....it pays off...

What a great pic. I know i had a bunk season when a 7 yr old schools me [:p] Congrats to him and hats off to you for teaching him the ropes! Thats how i learnt and if it wernt in the blood i may have never experienced one of the best hobbies in the world!

Must be a proud dad!

This is my contribution to the big fish page. By no means a big fish but a beauty. This is a Coho i caught yesterday in sooke. Biggest Coho i have ever caught. Looked like a big Buck Steelie.

Okay dads, this is a little different than a fish picture, but here is easily my biggest trophy of the season.

This June my 9 year fishaholic asked to go sockeye fishing.
The only day that we could go was the last Friday of school; the weekend was booked by the family.
He didn't want to miss the party at school that day.
I tossed the idea out to him that we go to Alberni, fish, then return home for school at 830am.
He bit!
My wife only looked at me, didn't say a word.
The agreement that I made with him was that he not be cranky at school that day, since it would be a long day for him.

As I went to be that Thursday night I had to laugh at the note (below) that I found on my pillow.
No one can say that I force him to go!

WAKEUP.jpg

I let him sleep in until 2:45am :) and we left the driveway in south Lantzville :) at 2:58, trailer splashed China Creek at 4:14, hoochies were wet by 4:24.
We had 3 on board at my 7am deadline, and I dropped him off at school at 8:22am.
Dad napped, kid partied.

Do you think my partner is a trophy???

Smiley.

p.s. no comments on the penmanship - he's male!

Chad, That fish looks as big as him!!!!!

The look on his face is priceless and what it is all about!!!!!

Good on you to take him out and show him how to do it.

Another future guide coming up????

Good on all the parents that take their kids fishing and teach them that there is ALOT more to life than TV and hanging out at the local 7-11 (or where ever they hang out these days[:p])!!!

Congrats to all the nice fish....Keep them coming!!!!

Cheers

Love the pictures of the kids with the fish guys. My 3 year old loses it if I go without him. My 8 month old was in the boat at 4 months with an infant life jacket and we had a great day for his first day in the boat, 22lber and 20lber in May. I just spent an hour in the garage because my 3 year old had to go through all the flashers and spoons, he knows all the names of everything better than I do. I'll post some pics when I can.:)

that is friggin awesome - he could teach my 8 year old a thing or two. I only just encouraged him to bring in like a 4 lb spring all by himself. Anything bigger, he isn't willing yet - heck, couldn't even get him to just 'hold' the rod while I tried to net a hog last month. To do all that at 7 - impressive as hell! kudos!

Bragging goes to to a 34 lb. Chinook I caught on the West Coast this summer. Show is a picture of my sons first Chinook caught at Kitty Colman on his first fishing trip of the summer.[8D]

Ritchmake, I agree with you fully. Those people are the ones we refer to as "gorbies".
