Bourbon Appreciation Thread

The Scotch Whiskey thread got me thinking about whether there were other enthusiastic imbibers of Bourbon out there.
In the few years prior to some provincial peckerhead’s banning of American spirits I was really starting to enjoy some of the better bourbons on offer.

I was turned off many years ago by a colleague’s favourite bourbon, Woodford that I could barely choke down but I subsequently discovered several that were reasonably priced and pretty tasty to boot. Brothers Bond, Evan Williams, Angels Envy, Jefferson’s Reserve etc.. are just a few decent sips and worth pouring instead of a nice Scotch now and then.

I generally support Canadian businesses but they don’t make scotch or bourbon. Okanagan Spirits does a good job of crafting a couple of good bourbon style spirits but they come at a higher price point. Crown Royal made a Bourbon Mash that they had to rename to Blender’s Mash that made my cut as well.

Any other ideas/recommendations as the private liquor stores are pretty much running out of old stock of authentic bourbons?

I am a fan of that Russel’s Reserve and its price point and the Wild Turkey Rare Breed but that turkey needs some taming with its high alcohol content lol.
There are others on your list I’ve tasted and others I haven’t. I splurged at Xmas on a bottle of Kentucky Owl Confiscated but I like others better that cost a lot less. Same goes for some of the upper end Michter’s

I too like the Russel Reserve, but have been drinking Buffalo Trace lately. Had a trip all planned to do the Bourbon Trail in Kentucky before the orange clown took over, so will hold off until he's gone and things have settled down there.

A US vendor of ours was kind enough to bring this to our office. Put a nice dent into it right off the bat. Apparently it is a collaboration with someone from Jim Beam and someone from Suntory.
