Anyone know of a good boat surveyor lower Vancouver Island/Sooke area? Costs?

Tony at boatsurvey.ca first accredited marine surveyor in Canada, ex coast guard hovercraft captain, very thorough and professional used him a few times now, highly recommend
he travels all over, reasonable prices send him an email and ask away

Capt. Lyle Wilson is who I have used. Great guy does a very good job ,located in Duncan but comes down all the time and you don't pay the travel. He did my boat in my driveway in Central Saanich.
Excalibur Marine Surveyors toll free 1-800-866-9377 or excaliburmarine@telus.net

Just out of interest what is a reasonable price? Is it by the foot? Say a 23' Hourston inboard/outboard on trailer? Just a ballpark figure. Is there any certification they have or are they just like home inspectors. Thanks

Sorry just read Tonys bio and he is accredited. Still wouldn't mind how much it would cost though.

Not sure down there but I can offer that I had a 21 footer done by a guy out of Duncan and he was just over 300 bucks. 315$ I think it was. That was spring of 2011 for what it is worth.

Thanks Jencourt

Jencourt's at 15/foot is about right. $15 -$17 / foot and can depend on if they include motor check too ( compression/diagnostics) - I have paid a mechanic seperately for motor related checks . "SAMS" Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors Inc. There seems to be only one in the Sannich area and a few in Vancouver.

Sorry, can't reccomend anyone specific in this area because I haven't used one in BC

Exactly my experience. Survey included a visual of motor as seen on boat but No mechanical. I payed Deans Marine also in Duncan to do compression, diagnostic?hook up lap top and print readings and fluid checks. Cost was 100 to do the mechanical so total bill to get peace of mind was 415$

Money well spent in my view.

Merry Christmas : Ray

Excalibur Marine did my boat last spring and I was very happy with him. I'm just south of Nanaimo and he came to my place for the survey.
