Where do you recommend buying boat insurance? I'm in the comox valley, but have heard of Megson/Fitzpatrick in victoria.

Howdy,

No need to come to Vic. See an insurance agent at Coast Capital Credit Union.

Ask them to quote you on a policy from Royal & Sunalliance.

I've got a 19-footer insured from stem to stern (non-declining replacement value) hull & machinery (and kicker) with basically no limitations on coverage and a $2-million water-skier policy included.

Just over $600/yr.

You usually get a 5- 10% discount if you have safe boaters or power squadron courses too. Time to get some training!

Depending on the size of boat, where you store it etc... you can also get a rider put on your home policy. Had that initially for a trailered boat we had that was stored in the driveway. Talk to your favourite insurance broker -- they can get you the best deal.
