Fraser Valley Flooding

glad he could find and get the material to his location
He hired the same contractor that the city uses, called them Friday afternoon, they started Saturday 7am with a full crew, done by sundown. We will see what the city says but so far they are grateful that he took it upon himself. The dike was restored to its original state, nothing was changed, so far nobody behind a desk has a problem with it.

Heavy rain in Port overnight - just over 80 mils.
Accompanied by howling winds (gusts over 60) and likely the most sustained thunder & lightening show we've seen since moving here.
Normally would have enjoyed the latter, but it kept us up for much of the middle of the night...

Still pounding down...

The sun looks like it's about to come out in Surrey right now. Wind is howling though. Storms coming.

Another update, man I thought this is over with sunshine and 15 degrees here in Langley today, but seems like Mother Nature has different plans with heavy rains up the mountain. The river is rising fast, it’s now about a foot from breaching into the neighbours yard up river with predicted peek time at midnight. The city is now clearing a path between the properties and putting hesco barriers in place to try and prevent flooding. The neighbours yard has no building, just bush and trees.
This is getting crazy, a race against time.
The dike he built wasn’t necessarily to prevent flooding, but soil erosion, with no dike in place this next storm could wipe out his property right off the map.

Wind knocks out power for tens of thousands in B.C.

Across the province, about 120,000 B.C. Hydro customers were without electricity as of 6 a.m., including almost 16,000 on Vancouver Island.

Thousands of people on Vancouver Island and B.C.’s Lower Mainland are without power on Wednesday morning as the latest storm battered the coast.

In all, about 120,000 B.C. Hydro customers were without electricity as of 6 a.m., primarily across the Lower Mainland.

Almost 103,000 B.C. Hydro customers on the Lower Mainland and Sunshine Coast had no power, along with 15,703 on Vancouver Island.

Most of those on the Island were on the south, where 32 outages were affecting almost 13,000 B.C. Hydro customers. Another seven outages on the north Island had nearly 3,000 in the dark.

This marks the third major weather-related outage event this week. In a statement, B.C. Hydro said crews were working “around the clock in challenging conditions to restore service as quickly and safely as possible.”

The utility said the storm brought down trees and debris onto its electrical infrastructure, damaging power lines, poles and other equipment.

“All available crews and contractors are being mobilized, and restoration efforts will continue throughout the day and into the night,” it said.

As of 6 a.m., the hardest-hit areas were:

• Surrey: 18,400 customers without power

• Vancouver: 11,200 customers without power

• Port Coquitlam: 12,500 customers without power

• Burnaby: 11,700 customers without power

• Maple Ridge: 11,200 customers without power

• North Vancouver: 10,000 customers without power

B.C. Hydro said downed power lines are an emergency. If you see a downed power line, call 911 and stay at least 10 metres back.

Wind and rainfall warnings issued Tuesday for Vancouver Island had been lifted. Winds of up to 100 kilometres an hour had been forecast for Greater Victoria.

A wind warning remained in place for the Fraser Valley, and a special weather statement warning of wind was issued for much of the southern Interior region of the province and Metro Vancouver.

This hole better still hold some steelhead 🙏
It will probably be some of the best fishing in that stretch. Not many deep runs in that zone.

Went out to Peach Rd this afternoon and my spot from the last 5 years is totally gone now... starting from scratch on the whole lower river.
